Social Emotional Learning through Adventure
This workshop is for interdisciplinary, K-12 educators who wish to support their students’ social and emotional development better. Participants will be exposed to a wide range of adventure-based, SEL-linked activities. They will explore strategies for applying adventure concepts to align and integrate the diverse social and emotional learning initiatives in their school.
Participants will:
Participate in adventure activities that support the implementation of social and emotional learning (SEL) strategies while supporting academic content.
Gain information and insight into theory, research results, and components associated with the most effective approaches to SEL programming.
Develop instructional skills for specific SEL content areas such as goal setting, decision making, managing emotions, and engaging in social relationships.
Explore best practices for creating and evaluating a relationship-centered school or community agency.

Workshop information:
Cost = $410 – Includes registration, workshop manual and lunch during workshop.
Workshop hours are 8:30AM-5:00PM each day.

Graduate credits: Participants can earn 2 credits for taking the workshop and completing a Reflection Paper. Additional 2 credits can be earned by also completing a Guided Project. More graduate credit information can be found HERE. Additional per credit fee applies. (Please note: Participants can take SEL through Adventure or SEL for Specialists but not both for graduate credits).
Participants who are licensed teachers in MA can earn 16 PDPs after completing this workshop and submitting a Reflection Paper for additional fee. Email registration@pa.org for more information.
Please register at least 14 days in advance to ensure we have enough people registered to run it.
Workshop registration cancellation policy: If you register and can’t attend, please let us at two weeks prior to the workshop. No shows without cancellation notice will forfeit all tuition cost paid.
Purchase Orders: If your school or organization will be using a Purchase Order, please email registration@pa.org to register. A copy of the Purchase Order will need to be submitted to that same email address to finalize the registration.
