Master of Education (M.Ed) in Experiential Learning & Development

This 34-credit degree from Plymouth State University is designed for students who are currently working in outdoor adventure education or a related field of experiential learning. This distance learning program does not require students to complete coursework on the Plymouth, NH campus. The program allows students to complete five online courses and a Capstone Project through PSU. The remaining 16 credits are earned by taking Project Adventure workshops and completing the required work after each workshop.

Master of Education (M.Ed) in Physical Education with a concentration in Adventure Education

This 34-credit degree from Plymouth State University is designed for students who are currently working in an adventure education field.  This distance learning program does not require students to complete coursework on the Plymouth, NH campus.  The program allows students to complete three online core courses and a Capstone Project through PSU. The remaining 19 credit requirements can be fulfilled by attending Project Adventure workshops and completing the required work after each workshop.

Master of Education (M.Ed) in Leadership in Physical Education & Movement Studies

This 33-credit degree program from Salem State University focuses on leadership, offering coursework to better equip professionals to emerge as leaders in the field.  In addition to the core requirements and 6 elective credits, students will select a focus area consisting of 12 credits of in-depth study in a specific area of the discipline, one of which is Adventure Education; the credits in this area are earned directly through Project Adventure workshops. If applicable, students in this program will have access to the coursework necessary to become eligible for a professional license in physical education.

Graduate Credits

Plymouth State University allows participants to earn up to 12 credits before they require enrollment in one of their Master’s Programs. For each Project Adventure workshop that is eligible for graduate credits through PSU, participants can earn up to 4 credits. The first 2 credits can be earned by completing the workshop and submitting a 3-5 page Reflection Paper to PSU within 30 days from the workshop end date. An additional 2 credits can be earned by also completing a Guided Project within 90 days of the workshop end date. There is an additional per credit fee for the Graduate Credits made payable directly to PSU. Click HERE for the registration form that is used to register for the graduate credits through Plymouth State University. The completed form can be emailed or faxed to them. This contact information is included on the registration form. Once PSU’s Registrar’s office processes the registration, you will receive an email with a link to pay for the graduate credits online. The cost of the graduate credits changes per year so please email our Workshop Registration registration@pa.org for per credit fee information.

professional development points (PDP)

Project Adventure is an approved High-Quality Professional Development (HQPD) provider through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). As a registered provider, Project Adventure offers participants who teach in Massachusetts, Professional Development Points (PDPs) for selected Project Adventure workshops.  PDPs are awarded after participating in a workshop and writing a reflection that demonstrates mastery in all content areas of the rubric. Submission of the written reflection must be submitted within 30 days after the workshop takes place and there is an additional fee of $15 for the PDPs.  PDPs are calculated as 1 workshop hour equals 1 PDP.  Please contact our Workshop Registrar at registration@pa.org for more information.
